The inspiration of this blog is based on these two ideas, Faith & Travel. As I share in my about section, having a "SlowLanes" mindset isn't about not getting anywhere, but rather focusing on the journey itself and not just the destination.

"I'm Randy. I've been through four divorces. I lost a pastorate along the way — the kind of loss that makes you question whether you have any business writing or speaking about faith at all.
Then came a blind date in Leona, Texas, and a marriage on 2-22-2022 that taught me healing is possible even after you think you've run out of chances.
My daughter Madisynn, whom I'm proudly holding in my arms many years ago, watched me go through all of it. She helped me put words to what I'd lived through, and her perspective is woven into the book that came out of this season of my life: 'Til Divorce Do Us Part: A Christian's Guide to Grieving, Healing, and Finding Hope After Divorce.
I'm not writing from a place of having it all figured out. I'm writing from the middle of the road — still driving, still learning to be still." Ps 46:10
"Psalm 46:10 says, 'Be still, and know that I am God.' That verse is where this name comes from.
Most of us live in the fast lane — rushing toward the next destination, the next milestone, the next thing that's supposed to fix everything. I did too, for a long time. But healing doesn't happen at that speed. Faith doesn't either.
SlowLanes is my invitation to slow down. To notice the journey instead of just chasing the destination. To be still long enough to actually hear God, instead of just driving past Him at seventy miles an hour.
This site is where I write about that — the faith side of my own story, grief and healing and rebuilding after divorce, and the travel that's taught me just as much about slowing down as any sermon has. Two lanes, same road: faith and travel, both moving at the speed of 'be still.'"
